We owe a special thanks to The Ragin Cajun, Mark Wallis of The Palm Tree Group, and (pictured at left) Commissioner Grady Prestage, Commissioner Richard Morrison and Constable Ruben Davis for all their support and help. Meeting this Saturday!
Our regular meeting will be this Saturday, March 21st, from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the George Memorial Library in Richmond.
We will have copies of the oral history video we made at last month's
meeting. There is absolutely no charge for you to get a copy of the video if
you participated in the taping.
We will have information about which local offices are up
for election in 2010, what the filing fees and qualifications are, and how much
the job pays. We will also give you a packet of information to take back to
your precinct. Mark Bankston, successful political strategist, will be leading this session. If you are thinking about being a candidate or just
interested in volunteering to make your community better, you will not want to
miss this meeting.
We will also be signing a thank you card to President Barack Obama for giving us stem cell research. Another promise kept!
And we will pass a resolution about Gov. Rick Perry rejecting stimulus package unemployment insurance money for Texans. We will also discuss the joint primary idea that was presented at the Party's meeting on Monday night.
Republican Hypocrisy: Kay Bailey Hutchinson Takes The Cake
It's hard to set the standard on Republican hypocrisy, but Texas Republican Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison has come close.
Hutchison railed against the "pork" in the stimulus package, and then immediately took credit for that same pork when it came to Texas.
Hutchison stood on the floor of the Senate and spoke out against the 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Bill. She advertised her opposition in a press release that bemoaned the long-term consequences of America’s irresponsible spending and soaring debt obligations.
Then, she dutifully voted against it.
One More Reason Why Rush Limbaugh is Creepy
This weekend, former Vice President Dick Cheney called hate-monger Rush Limbaugh, "a good friend. I love him. I think he does great work and has for years," Cheney said. "I think Rush is a good man and serves a very important purpose."
With Dick Cheney on your side, you don't need enemies. The last good friend of Dick Cheney got shot in the face .... by Dick Cheney.
Greetings From Hawaii
One of our members has a friend in Hawaii who sent us this You-Tube taken in Hawaii on the day Barack Obama was inaugurated.
The following explanatory note came with the video ---
Aloha Friends:
I just received these links to some amazing footage of our humpback whales behavior on Inauguration Day. The ceremony and filming of the whales took place at City of Refuge, also known as Ho'nau nau State Park in South Kona.
~Just minutes before a traditional Hawaiian blessing to honor Barack Obama's Inauguration, a pod of joyful whales began gathering by the temple where the event was taking place. People at the gathering who have lived on the Big Island their whole lives, have never seen anything like what took place on this special day. This happy pod of whales began with 3 white belly breaches, followed by spyhopping, slapping their fins and tails and a new behavior we have never seen before that we nicknamed the full body slap... for a full 30 minutes! The voice you will hear in the background is Haleaka Iolani Pule Dooley, known locally as "Aunty Aka" and you can hear the excitement in her voice as the whales celebrate wildly in front of her and those gathering for the special blessing~
Pigs At The Trough
One of our members recently found what he thinks should be our campaign song for the upcoming election to describe our Republican friends.
Give a listen to Texas singer/songwriter Hank Woji's "The Pigs at the Trough" by clicking here.
If you're not somewhere you can listen, you can read the lyrics by clicking "read more" at the bottom of this entry.
