Texas Tuition Relief

This weekend in Austin, the State Democratic Executive Committee voted to support Texas College Democrats in their quest to seek tuition relief following the deregulation of state tuition rammed through the legislature by a Republican majority.
Deregulation of college tuition has been a dismal failure, as we all knew it would.
Click here to add your support to the growing list of students, educators, parents, and working Texans who know that deregulation has caused college tuition to increase beyond the means of most Texans.
Also, contact your legislators and let them know that you support tuition relief because an educated Texas is a working Texas.

Party in the Centerfold!

We made the Centerfold!

Fort Bend Democrats Club was featured in the centerfold of Fort Bend Focus Magazine.  Our Inaugural Ball made a splash on the local social scene and got us a chance to strut our stuff all over the county.
To view the pages yourself, click here, and then look for pages 48 and 49 on the left side of the page.
We wish to thank the good people at Fort Bend Focus Magazine for putting us "in focus" and showing off our gorgeous membership.
You can pick up your copy at many local establishments.

Commissioner Richard Morrison: A Modest Proposal

As many of you know I am against tolling the Grand Parkway. There has been some action on this issue here in Fort Bend County and :04:06:48Z">statewide.

Senate Bill 792 states that market valuation means a project valuation that is based on agreed project terms and conditions, including initial toll rate and toll rate escalation methods. It takes account of the project traffic and revenue study, using agreed upon assumptions, an agreed project scope, market research, estimated costs of project finance, construction, operation and maintenance. SB 792 also allows the market valuation agreement to be waived.

Republicans Have Grown Fond of Failure

Republicans are currently being led by Rush Limbaugh, who wants Obama to fail. I suspect they grew so good at failure during the past 8 years, that they've become fond of it!

Action: Helping American Families

It's one thing to talk about the problems facing American familes after 8 years of George Bush. It's another to actually do something about it.

Fort Bend Democrats Club has taken action.  We voted at our last meeting to take up donations at every meeting to help Feeding America feed an American family for a month.  We will will pass the hat to help those most hurt by this economy.

You can contribute, too.  Just click here and let us know that you want the money to go to feed American families.  We'll take it from there!

What did liberals do that was so offensive to the Republican party?  I'll tell you what they did. Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals got African-Americans the right to vote. Liberals created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty. Liberals ended segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act. Liberals created Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act. What did conservatives do? They opposed them on every one of those things every one.
