Commissioner Richard Morrison: A Modest Proposal

As many of you know I am against tolling the Grand Parkway. There has been some action on this issue here in Fort Bend County and :04:06:48Z">statewide.

Senate Bill 792 states that market valuation means a project valuation that is based on agreed project terms and conditions, including initial toll rate and toll rate escalation methods. It takes account of the project traffic and revenue study, using agreed upon assumptions, an agreed project scope, market research, estimated costs of project finance, construction, operation and maintenance. SB 792 also allows the market valuation agreement to be waived.

Judge Hebert: Just Say “No” to Ethics Reform

[Cross Posted from Half Empty]

In a story buried in the Houston Chronicle on November 10th we find that Precinct 1 Commissioner-Elect Richard Morrison has a full plate of ethics reform to serve to the Fort Bend County Commissioners Court when he takes office in January.

The hors d’oeuvres to this 7 course meal are pasted below from Morrison’s website where you can also get a copy of the full resolution.

I. CONTRIBUTION LIMITS

  • Starting with the 2010 election cycle, limit individual contributions to a County Jude or County Commissioner to $250.
  • Limit PAC contributions to $500.

II. CONFLICTS OF INTEREST

  • Any gift in excess of $100 to a County Judge or County Commissioner (or immediate family members) from a party with business before the County will require that Judge or Commissioner to recuse themselves from ruling or voting on that issue.

Richard Morrison Files for Fort Bend County Commissioner

Richard Morrison, the man who showed the people of CD 22 that Tom DeLay was vulnerable, today filed for the Democratic nomination for Fort Bend County Commissioner, Precinct 1. Appearing at the Law Offices of Don Bankston in Richmond, Morrison signed the necessary papers and produced his filing fee.

Country Club Andy

As most of you know, we held a vote count at The World’s Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc. and named County Commissioner Andy Meyers the Greediest Man Alive.

Okay, so there was some decent. It was not unanimous. Thelma, who has been at several parties with Andy, says the ‘alive” part cannot be proven empirically by Andy’s socialization skills. So, she voted to send it to committee to clarify the meaning of “alive.”

Richard Morrison For Fort Bend County Commissioner

At last week's meeting of the Fort Bend Democrats, Richard Morrisson, a long-time Fort Bend Democrat and former congressional candidate, announced what we had all been anticipating for months: he will seek the Democratic nomination for Fort Bend County Commissioner - Precinct 1.

I was not there, but I heard about it later. As quoted in FortBendNow, here is what Richard told the Fort Bend Democrats:

"Everyone in Briarwood and Greatwood is furious about this toll road. How can they trust their commissioner to do anything, because he may have taken a contribution from a road-builder, and now he’s sitting in the audience. You’ve got to take a stand for these people"

"You Have Awakened a Sleeping Giant!"

Beware! A sizable group of citizens in Fort Bend County were recently awakened from their slumber by what felt like a bolt of lightening. Once they opened their eyes, they were shocked at what they saw. They're now setting off alarms around the clock to wake up their neighbors and expressing their collective outrage with a thunderous roar!
