McCain is SO different from Bush

"The only issues they agree on are education, immigration, Iraq, abortion, Supreme Court judges, Social Security, tax breaks for the wealthy, wiretapping, trade, healthcare, the Middle East, same sex marriage and Medicare."

Stephen Colbert

They Lied

We are conditioned early and often not to accuse another person of being a "liar". Culturally, it is one of the harshest insults that one can hurl. Factually, it can be difficult to prove. That is why lawyers rarely accuse witnesses of being "liars". They will show that the witness has "changed his story" or is "mistaken on the facts" or any one of a number of euphemisms for lying.

Five Years Later

Major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed.
President Bush, on the flight deck of the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln, May 1, 2003
America sent you on a mission to remove a grave threat and to liberate an oppressed people, and that mission has been accomplished.
President Bush speaking to troops in Qatar, June 3, 2003
The President never said "mission accomplished."
White House Press Secretary Dana Perino, May 1, 2007

Gov. Perry appoints more toll road advocates

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed two more toll road advocates to the state Transportation Commission. So, for those who are wondering who is going to stop the Trans-Texas Corridor and the privatization of our roadways with "public/private partnerships", the answer is NOT Rick Perry. Dozens of public hearings have allowed Texans the opportunity to speak out against this project, and it continues unabated. So, now it's up to us. Speak to your state legislators. Write to your local newspaper. Most importantly, campaign for and support candidates in the November election who believe that mobility and transportation are public assets, not private profit opportunities.

President Bush, on 9/11 terrorist Osama bin Laden

The search is underway for those who are behind these evil acts. I've directed the full resources of our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and to bring them to justice.
President Bush, Sept. 11, 2001
As to whether or not bin Laden is in control of some network, who knows? The thing we're certain about is that he's on the run, that he's hiding in caves, if hiding at all. And the other thing I'm certain about is we will bring him to justice.
President Bush, Dec. 28, 2001
Who knows if he's hiding in some cave or not; we haven't heard from him in a long time. And the idea of focusing on one person is -- really indicates to me people don't understand the scope of the mission. So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him ... I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him.
President Bush, March 13, 2002

Re-build America First

In 1969, the Vietnam War raged on, President Nixon instituted his own version of a "surge", and on my AM radio Merle Haggard was singing "Okie from Muskogee" and "Fightin' Side of Me". Do you remember what it was like?

The Real War: public relations

The retired general on television is making an impressive case. He is a "military analyst", based on his training, experience and the text-banner underneath his image on the screen. He is also likely to be one other thing: a Trojan horse for the Pentagon, briefed by the Department of Defense to get the administration's spin to the public while appearing to be a neutral observer. Click here for an audio/visual presentation of a story that appeared in the New York Times on April 20, 2008. The American public has been and continues to be the target of propaganda. What is the motivation of the "military analyst"? Those retired generals often work for defense contractors who are making a lot of money off of this war. This administration said it was trying to win a war. We just didn't know it was really trying to win the public relations war.

Bush's War

On the fifth anniversary of the start of the Iraq War, the PBS series "Frontline" prepared the definitive retrospective. Bush's War is four hours of news video, seasoned with interviews of administration officials and journalists. You don't have to watch it all at once. Choose what you wish, watch when you can. This documentary is must-see TV for your Republican friend who is still pro-war. It answers the question, "What did the Iraq invasion have to do with catching the 9/11 terrorist Osama bin Laden?" The answer: Nothing. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/bushswar/

Another Republican Convert

Yes, it's true. Some Republicans did vote in the Democratic Primary, but contrary to what Rush Limbaugh thinks, many of them are not going to vote for Republicans in November. Why? A criminal defense lawyer in Ft. Worth crossed over to vote in the Democratic Primary and tells his conversion story:
