Why I Am Running for Precinct Chair

By Skip - Posted on 09 February 2010

Dear Fellow Democrat,

My name is Morris E. Belt, Jr., but most know me by my nickname "Skip". I, my wife, Judy Belt, and family have lived at 2810 Hampton Dr. Missouri City, Texas since June 1976. I am a long time Democrat even when we were very few. Now the trend is very favorable to turn Fort Bend blue. We need good broad based leadership to make it happen soon. I am asking for your vote for Chairman of our Precinct 2030. My focus is promoting other true Democrats and not running for office or promoting myself.

The incumbent is Noel Pinnock who is only active when he is a candidate for an office. He is a very good talker, but in my opinion he has not shown himself to be an effective leader as Precinct Chairman. In recent years he has been an unsuccessful candidate for school board trustee and Councilman of Missouri City. He is currently running for two positions: precinct chair and trustee of the Quail Valley Fund (Homeowners Association). He is also the campaign manager for Tony Sherman.

In contrast, I was elected as delegate to the County/Senatorial District Convention, and I served as Credentials Chairman for the County Convention in 2008. I was a delegate to the State Democratic Convention. I funded and operated with Judy the Eastside Democrats Headquarters on Texas Parkway to support the election of Barak Obama and all Democratic candidates. I have participated in many grass roots activities to get out the vote. I rarely crossed paths with Noel Pinnock, and I never heard of any communication or local function or election rally in Pct. 2030 that was initiated or led by him. That needs to change. The local Fort Bend Democratic Party also needs to be more effective which is why I support Steve Brown for County Chair. As Precinct Chairman, I know I can offer the leadership and hard work needed to strengthen our Party.

I hope to see you soon as I block walk our precinct or at one of our functions. I would appreciate your support and recommendation to your friends and neighbors. If you would allow me to put a campaign sign in your yard it would help me greatly. My cell number is 281-650-2751, home telephone 281-437-9463 and email skipbelt@sbcglobal.net.
