nobody will be left dumb enough to be a Republican

"...is the Republican Party afraid that if we educate our schoolchildren, then nobody will be left dumb enough to be a Republican. There, I’ve said it. I just wonder if these people have no shame. Our State School Board member representative, Republican Cynthia Dunbar, who home schools her own children even says, “such an address has the potential to open the door to students accepting an unconstitutional level of direct accountability to National Governing Authorities” (her capitals).

My family disagrees with me, but I think it’s also a black thing. There is no rational thought involved. They don’t just hate him because he is a Democrat, like my daughter says. I think they particularly hate him because he is black. I don’t remember this big a fit being thrown over Bill Clinton. Sure he was criticized. But the right wing lunatic fringe didn’t high jack everything he did. I have one thing to say. Yes, he is black. Yes, he won. He will be the president and running things for the next 3, possibly 7, years. Get over it.

Well, Dwight Eisenhower's granddaughter said she left the Republican aka radical party a year ago because it has changed so much. I wonder where is the outrage over spending in the last 8 years and the loss of 4400 men and women not even counting the wounded that will need care for years to come. Or how about the countless government programs that were cut during the bush years and now have to be rebuilt. What we hear in this area from business people who should be knowlegable are fear of adding to their tax roles, cutting into their profits and help for those to lazy to help themselves. Will there be system cheats, yes. But are they much more different than a Congressman spending $154,000 using a private jet for his personal transportation? Or business write offs on expensive vacations, dining, and even weekend boats. President Obama has already set in motion collecting on Medicare Frauds, two billion was collected last week. Medicare and Social Security are viable but do need corrections. Medicare physicians need to be paid competively. People who can get preventative healthcare are less people ending up on welfare. I personally know of people, two income people who have lost their homes because of medical costs to sick children. I know of a healthy family of four denied coverage because the father had a one time borderline high blood pressure number. Non smoking, non weight problem, still denied. Health insurance have had their way too long, we need regulation on their product as with any other consumer product. Linda Woode Montgomery, TX

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are [a] few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."
