Getting to Denver

By Juanita - Posted on 21 April 2008

If you're a Democrat, and who isn't these days?, you want to attend this historic national Democratic convention in Denver. No matter which of our candidates becomes the nomine, this will be the convention that your grandchildren will ask you about one day.

If you've already got August 25 - 28 circled on your calendar and are saving your money to go, there are several ways to get to the convention:

Number way: Be a delegate! The Texas Democratic Party has the information you need to learn the process. Also helpful is a roadmap prepared by Glen Maxey of Democracy for Texas, where you will learn there are three kinds of delegates. Find which slot suits you best and give it your best shot!

Number way: Be a volunteer! It's still not too late to submit your application to be a volunteer at the convention. Click right here and start the process.

Do not count on just going to Denver and getting a ticket to the convention floor unless you know a member of Congress and can finagle ticket out of them. Tickets are scarce.

I'd jump on that volunteer thing if I were you - it sounds like fun!
