As President Obama gears up to officially accept his presidential nomination at the 46th Democratic National Convention, he will kick-off the "Road to Charlotte" tour with grassroots events in Iowa, Colorado, Virginia, Ohio, and North Carolina On the "Road to Charlotte" tour, the President will continue to lay out what's at stake for the middle class in this election -- the choice between continuing to move forward to an economy built to last that's grounded in a strong middle class, and going back to the same "top-down" economic policies of the last decade that crashed our economy and punished the middle class.

Why do women have to fight the same old battles? Women still don't get equal pay for equal work - Republicans blocked that, and even pushed a law that could have denied insurance coverage for birth control. We're still fighting to protect a woman's right to choose nearly 40 years after Roe v. Wade, and we could be just one Supreme Court justice away from losing it.

Republican women share their history with the Republican Party and how the party's views are no longer aligned with their own. They don't support Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan and share how Romney and Ryan are wrong for women.

When the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) was passed in March 2010, its authors had states like Texas in mind.

Texas is unique in that it’s the only state that has the most advanced, but least accessible medical systems in the nation (if not world).

The number of uninsured Texans has overwhelmed our healthcare infrastructure and economics for the last two decades.

The ACA reduces skyrocketing health costs by increasing access to health insurance. By doing so, the uninsured would be able to receive quality preventive care to help them manage and early diagnose chronic illness instead of receiving expensive primary care in emergency rooms. The costs associated with uncompensated care are paid for by local tax payers, employers and the insured. One emergency room visit by an uninsured patient costs $1300. Multiply that by 5 million uninsured Texans, and you’ve just stumbled upon Texas’ Health Care crisis.

All Texans would benefit from health care reform – and that includes Texas businesses.

President Obama held a grassroots event in Denver, Colorado where he highlighted how health reform has helped women get access to the care they need.
