You looked so young when I opened the door, a clipboard tucked against your side and your cheeks flushed, smiling expectantly.

I assumed at first that you were seeking donations for the high school baseball team or taking pledges for Jump Rope for Heart. But the first words out of your mouth were, "May I tell you why it's important to vote for Barack Obama?"

I was surprised, though I tried not to show it. That's why it took me a moment to respond. See, you were not wearing campaign gear – just jeans and a white T-shirt – nor did you have any Organizing for America paraphernalia. And your clipboard. All it contained was names and addresses scribbled in messy handwriting with sporadic check marks.

President Obama talks about his choice to rescue the American auto industry from collapse and save more than one million American jobs.

"Every president inherits challenges, few have faced so many. Four years later our enemies have been brought to justice. Our heroes are coming home. Assembly lines are humming again—they're still challenges to meet, children to educate, a middle class to rebuild but the last thing we should do is turn back now."

President Obama has fought for Native American communities to increase opportunities for tribes and individual tribal members. The President has respected and worked hard to strengthen our government-to-government relationships. This administration also recognizes our history together and acknowledges the unique heritage of Native peoples that includes you in the dreams that we all share.
