WHEREAS President Barack Obama declared that “Justice has been done"

WHEREAS, On September 11, 2001, Osama bin Laden, a sworn enemy of the United States of America, coordinated a series of monstrous and cowardly terrorist attacks that resulted in the tragic loss of 2,977 innocent lives, leading to an engagement in a war on terrorism, across many fronts;

WHEREAS, On May 1, 2011, after nearly ten years of Bin Laden’s evasion of military and intelligence forces seeking his capture, President Barack Obama declared to the nation and the world that Bin Laden had finally been killed, and that, “Justice has been done.”

He's Barack Obama

This one is so funny I laughed out loud.  Enjoy!

92% Of Americans Are Socialists They Just Don’t Know It

Bottom 40% of Americans own 0.2% of the wealthWealth inequality is as extreme today as it was during the Great Depression years. In real terms, the wealthy hold the majority of this nation’s wealth and income. The problem in this country is mass disillusionment. In a recent study by Duke and Harvard University they found many Americans believe that the top 20% of our nation’s wealthiest own 60% of the wealth. The real figure is the top 20% own 84% of our nation’s wealth and it is increasing every year.

When the respondents were asked to pick an unlabeled pie chart “How much should the top 20% own?” 92% of them preferred the Swedish model of income distribution over the current American economic model. The Swedish economic model, which is the top 20% own 36% of the nation’s wealth.

Birthers not persuaded by Long-Form Birth Certificate

With that document’s release Wednesday, the issue is finally settled, right? ...

In a brief press conference, Obama acknowledged the release likely won’t convince everyone.

"I know that there’s going to be a segment of people for which, no matter what we put out, this issue will not be put to rest," Obama said. "But I’m speaking to the vast majority of the American people, as well as to the press. We do not have time for this kind of silliness."

President Obama says Gov. Perry used stimulus fund to help balance budget, then started 'blaming' federal lawmakers who voted fo

Mostly True"Gov. (Rick) Perry helped balance his budget with about $6 billion worth of federal help, which he happily took, and then started blaming the members of Congress who had offered that help."

Barack Obama Is The Biggest Tax Cutter In US History

Beneath all of the Republican and Tea Party grumbling about taxes, one key fact continues to be ignored. Federal taxes are lower than at any time since 1955. Obama has now reduced taxes by more than any president since Dwight D. Eisenhower.

“For the past two years, a family of four earning the median income has paid less in federal income taxes than at any time since at least 1955… All federal, state and local taxes combined are a lower percentage of per-capita income than at any time since the 1960s… The highest income-tax bracket is its lowest since 1992. At 35 percent, it’s well below the 50 percent mark of much of the 1980s and the 70 percent bracket of the 1970s.”

Reminder! Pete Olson: not Gay

Juanita, over at the Beauty Shop reminds us about Republican Congressman Pete Olson's sexual orientation:

Reminder! Pete Olson: Not Gay

Now I know there are people who think that Republican Congressman Pete Olson, who also happens to be my own personal congressman, is gay.

He is not.

He is not gay.   Not.  Gay.

There are people who think that a straight man wouldn’t constantly be putting 20 year old pictures of himself in a little sailor suit on everything he mails to his constituents.  Those people do not know Pete Olson, a man who is, incidentally, not gay.

Did I mention that Pete Olson is many things, but none of them are gay?

Infographic: Tax Breaks vs. Budget Cuts

House leaders are unfortunately restricting their proposed budget cuts for the remainder of fiscal year 2011 to nonsecurity discretionary spending in an attempt to tame a $1.3 trillion deficit. This approach is especially shortsighted since the Federal Treasury loses twice as much revenue due to tax breaks than Congress appropriates on all nonsecurity discretionary spending.

Leaving Children Behind

In a pointed Op-Ed in Sunday's New York Times, Nobel Prize winning Economist Paul Krugman looks at Texas' financial deficit and the children who will suffer as a result of Republican politician's malfeasence:

At the state and local level, however, there’s no doubt about it: big spending cuts are coming.

And who will bear the brunt of these cuts? America’s children....

And in low-tax, low-spending Texas, the kids are not all right. The high school graduation rate, at just 61.3 percent, puts Texas 43rd out of 50 in state rankings. Nationally, the state ranks fifth in child poverty; it leads in the percentage of children without health insurance. And only 78 percent of Texas children are in excellent or very good health, significantly below the national average....

Anyway, the next time some self-proclaimed deficit hawk tells you how much he worries about the debt we’re leaving our children, remember what’s happening in Texas, a state whose slogan right now might as well be “Lose the future.”

Perry's love/hate relationship with Washington's money

Hypocritical Texas Gov. Rick Perry likes to tell Washington to stop meddling in state affairs. He vocally opposed the Obama administration's 2009 stimulus program to spur the economy and assist cash-strapped states.

Turns out Texas was the state that depended the most on those very stimulus funds to plug nearly 97% of its shortfall for fiscal 2010...
