Party in the Centerfold!

We made the Centerfold!

Fort Bend Democrats Club was featured in the centerfold of Fort Bend Focus Magazine.  Our Inaugural Ball made a splash on the local social scene and got us a chance to strut our stuff all over the county.
To view the pages yourself, click here, and then look for pages 48 and 49 on the left side of the page.
We wish to thank the good people at Fort Bend Focus Magazine for putting us "in focus" and showing off our gorgeous membership.
You can pick up your copy at many local establishments.

Action: Helping American Families

It's one thing to talk about the problems facing American familes after 8 years of George Bush. It's another to actually do something about it.

Fort Bend Democrats Club has taken action.  We voted at our last meeting to take up donations at every meeting to help Feeding America feed an American family for a month.  We will will pass the hat to help those most hurt by this economy.

You can contribute, too.  Just click here and let us know that you want the money to go to feed American families.  We'll take it from there!

Spend Valentine’s Day Morning Making History

Fort Bend Democrats Club will sponsor an Oral History videotaping following a short meeting on Saturday, February 14, from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the George Memorial Library in Richmond. Please come and record your memories of this election!

An Evening With Democrats in Fort Bend

Did you miss the November meeting of the Fort Bend Democrats? It was an easy thing to do.

First, it was impossible to get a meeting place reserved for our usual Saturday morning at 10 AM meeting.

Anywhere.

Second, the meeting was announced late and took place on a school night.

But that didn't keep away the impressive crowd that did come and fill the seats set out in the George Library downstairs meeting room. So that we had to get more chairs out.

That was a nice problem to have.

Election Night Play List Is Set

We, the terminally unhip, want to thank all of you who have left comments and suggestions about what is to go into our Election Night CD. We listened and made adjustments and have a play list now that we think will impress [nearly] everyone. We would have included more suggestions, but obviously a CD is space-limited. So here, without further ado, is the official Fort Bend Democrats Election Night Party Play List*:

One Last Fundraiser

doorhanger front We are having one last major fundraiser to gather the money needed for some first-class Get Out The Vote doorhangers.

We need some additional funds to purchase these and get them to our Neighborhood Organizers to use for blockwalking. We will also be putting them out in heavily Democratic precincts.

Your help could turn the tide for Democrats in Fort Bend County, and across Texas!

We decided to have a different kind of fundraiser - no speeches or grandstanding, just good food and live music. We will also have some outstanding door prizes - including a framed rally sign certified as being used on the convention floor in Denver. What a legacy to hand down to your grandchildren! With attendance limited to 100 people, your odds of winning a doorprize is good.

We will also have one-of-a-kind auction items for you to bid on.
Please click Read more to get specific information and pictures of the auction items.

Albert Hollan's Remarks Read at the Labor Day Event

[Albert Hollan couldn't attend the our Labor Day Fundraiser last weekend but he did write down some remarks that were read to the assembly. Albert, you know, underwrote the entire thing. His generosity is a model to us all]

Welcome to Sugar Land, and welcome to my neighborhood.  My family and I have lived just around the corner for the past 20 years.

Convention Night at the Headquarters

Okay, I admit it.  I spent more time watching the tv than taking pictures.

Democratic Convention watching party at the Rosenberg Headquarters We munched on hot dogs and apple pie at both Fort Bend Democrats headquarters while watching Obama make the greatest convention speech in history.
You can find more pictures here of the early crowd.  Sorry I didn't take many once everyone got there.  I'll try harder next time! Blockwalking starts tomorrow and our Kickoff event is on Sunday Afternoon.  It's a great time to be a Democrat!
