Poor Ol' Cuzzin' Cornyn

By Ann - Posted on 13 November 2007

He keeps trying and trying to get the children of poor parents in this state covered by SCHIP (State Comprehensive Health Insurance Program) one way or another, but his hero, President Dubya, just won’t do anything but veto any compromise. Now let’s step back and take a wide-angled view at just five areas that are pretty important over the next four years, of which SCHIP is just one of which Dubya is using to shape the future of this country almost as heinously as Dr. Moreau changed the future of the animals on his island in the story by H. G. Wells.

1. Not assisting with the health of socioeconomically-challenged children is a sure-fire way of keeping the majority of them socio-economically challenged. If they don’t feel well, they don’t learn well. The more they don’t do well, the fewer positive role models exist in the schools. A vicious cycle emerges. This repeats itself over generations if there is no intervention.

2. Congressman George Miller of California is passionately working his heart out to re-write the No Child Left Behind Act; which we all agree desperately needs to be done. However, Dubya makes sure that Congress drops 3 billion dollars off the education bill. Education takes money. Senator Cornyn again finds himself talking to a brick wall on fixing this problem.

3. Dubya also twists arms until very little money is given to secure the US borders, AFTER screaming wolf for 6 years about terrorists and illegal aliens waltzing across the borders. He gives lip-service to a ridiculous fence and then halts the money for it. He has no intention of securing our two borders and our coastlines. What he wants is a North American Union that changes the borders to one big gigantic border AROUND North America, patrolled by private companies at tax payers’ expense. Who works for the companies? The barely educated from #’s 1 and 2 above. Keep in mind, that low wages don’t support high taxes very well….but if they’re ignorant, they ask fewer questions.

4. Wow, when it comes to money, we can sure find it for the “War on Terror”. But it’s getting to the point where we can’t recruit people for the stupid war, so we keep sending in already recruited people until they get killed or terribly injured. My cousin’s oldest son is going to Iraq for his third tour. His second son had both legs blown off by an IED on his third tour. Who is soon to be replacing our troops if we don’t get them out soon? Those from #’s 1 and 2 above. There will be plenty of them.

5. NAFTA, or the North American Free Trade Agreement, which is slowly developing into a North American Union, is further facilitating what the Neocons have always wanted: a two-class society. In this society there will be many, poor and uneducated workers and few, educated and rich owners of the companies and the politicians. And yet the Conservatives wet their pants every time the word “Hillary” is spoken? What could be more frightening than what is implied by a North American Union? It will be literally a playground with no rules for the survival of the fittest Republicans. And the really sad part? Cornyn won't be one of them. Pass the facial tissues, please. I feel a tear coming on.
