Flashback: Tom DeLay in 2006

Here in Fort Bend County, we know Tom DeLay well. Too well. As Democrats and Progressives, we were unrepresented in the U.S. Congress for 21 years. Tom DeLay pretended to hate the government he was elected to serve in, while at the same time gathering power and influence for his party in order to serve the corporate interests who donated to his campaign and causes. He catered to the religious right, while smoking cigars at Washington, D.C. bars. He was, in short, a hypocrite.

Now, Tom DeLay will show his softer side. He has been recruited to appear on the reality television show, "Dancing With the Stars". In preparation, he has scrubbed all politics from his personal website.

There is no question that Tom DeLay is trying to reinvent himself as a cuddly little Texas two-stepping John Travolta (Sub)"Urban Cowboy", but the real Tom DeLay is nothing like the persona we will see on display starting September 21.
