Early Voting Begins Monday, March 31st
Now for some of us, the Democratic primary runoff is going to be the very opposite to what our primary was. Everything has been decided statewide except for one race: Texas Railroad Commissioner.
Ho-hum.
Railroad Commissioner.
Don't be fooled, though. This November we are expecting a huge boost in turnout from interest in the Democratic presidential nominee. This could mean that we could have representation on a lax and lackadaisical Railroad Commission, who oversee oil and gas production and safety issues, for the first time in years. Go vote and make a difference.
Then there are those of us lucky sons-of-guns who live in Precinct 1. Precinct 1 voters get to decide between two excellent candidates for the Democratic nominee for Precinct 1 County Commissioner: Richard Morrison and Sharon Wallingford. The winner will take on (very probably) Tom Stavinoha in November, and again, the chances of success have never been higher, especially with the incumbent's high negatives among Democratic as well as Republican residents of the precinct.
Heck, even if Greg "I Like Me Some Toll Road" Ordineaux should pull it off and beat Stavinoha, I think we have a good chance to get another Democrat in the County Court.
So go out and vote. Early voting times and locations are found here. Remember, early voting goes only for 5 days. Barring that, Election Day is Tuesday, April 8th.
