Democratic Weekend

By Juanita - Posted on 21 July 2008

It'll take us a week to recover and digest all the information!

If Texas Republicans think that Democrats are sitting back on our polls and already celebrating a sure victory, they are oh so wrong. Oh so.
It started in Halletsville, Texas, on Saturday with a meeting for the SD18 Democrats. The Senior Citizen Center was packed, and there were even some senior citizens there!

The picture on the left is Martin Siegel, candidate for the Texas 14th Court of Appeals, speaking to the crowd as Leslie Taylor, candidate for the 1st Court of Appeals looks on.

All the area Precinct Chairs in attendance took a bow. Their constant and hard work is the backbone of the Texas Democratic Party.

Brian Pendleton of the Texas Democratic Party gave a training on the VAN, Texas Democrats' secret weapon this year for activists.

And then it was on to Austin for a Sunday afternoon training with Democracy for Texas. Five workshops on FEC regulations, volunteer recruitment, online campaigning, fundraising, and phonebanking put 100 more organizers on the ground for Democrats. It was a special treat to have Jim Dean, Chair of Democracy for America, there to fire us up!

Glen Maxey - teaching new tricks to SD18 Democrats

Thanks again to Glen Maxey, Fran Vincent, and Karl-Thomas Musselman for another great event. That's Glen teaching in the picture.

It's fun to be a Democrat!
