ALERT!-Books Needed for Silent Auction

By Geri - Posted on 08 February 2008

We would like to assemble a basket of good election year books for our silent auction. You can help by purchasing and donating a book such as Hillary's Living History, Obama's Audacity of Hope or any other titles that you might recommend to readers. Please email Geri Wells at gjwells@windstream.net to let me know if you will be donating a book.

We have been very fortunate to have received a wide variety of excellent donations for the silent auction in conjunction with our Annual Dinner on February 22nd. (see details on this site under events). What we have been unable to secure is a donation by a bookstore. If you know of a bookstore that might offer a contribution, please don't hesitate to ask them. Just let me know what you are able to do. Thanks!

Be sure to call and reserve your tickets to the event. You won't want to miss Senfronia Thompson, the fun of an evening with Democrats in high spirits, and the excitement of the super silent auction items.

I look forward to seeing you there!

In the real world, there are only two ways to deal with corporate misbehavior: One is through government regulation and the other is by taking them to court. What has happened over 20 years of free-market proselytizing is that we have dangerously weakened both forms of restraint, first through the craze for "deregulation" and second through endless rounds of "tort reform," all of which have the effect of cutting off citizens' access to the courts.  By legally bribing politicians with campaign contributions, the corporations have bought themselves immunity from lawsuits on many levels.
