The First Lady announces that more than 2,000 businesses participating in her Joining Forces initiative have hired or trained more than 125,000 veterans and military spouses in the past year and have pledged to hire or train 250,000 veterans and spouses in the coming years.

In August 2011, President Obama challenged America to increase hiring for Veterans and military families. Lucas, an Iraq War veteran who served with the Iowa National Guard, leads supporters in the Pledge of Allegiance at one of President Obama's grassroots events. He shares why he supports the President and how President Obama continues to make sure veterans are cared for.

Edward Meagher joined the United States Air Force in 1966. He volunteered to go to Vietnam and spent well over 2.5 years overseas.

Today, Edward has the privilege of working with veterans coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan.

President Obama's message has been very clear. You stood up for us; we will stand tall for you. He's ended the war with honor, and he's brought them home, and he's doing the same thing in Afghanistan. He understands at a real gut level what these folks have been through.

The sacrifices that our troops have made have been incredible. It's because of what they've done that we've been able to go after Al Qaeda and kill Bin Laden. When they come home we have a sacred trust to make sure that we are doing everything we can to heal all of their wounds. Giving them the opportunities that they deserve to find a job and get the education that they need.
