In his remarks to The National Council of La Raza today, Vice President Joe Biden addressed Mitt Romney's refusal to release additional tax returns that could shed light on his offshore accounts and investments in foreign tax havens.

"And this is a man who says President Barack Obama is out of touch. Out of touch with the needs of the American people. This coming from a man who until recently had a Swiss bank account and millions of dollars invested in the Grand Cayman Islands beyond security -- beyond scrutiny. And President Obama is out of touch?

Mitt Romney is defying calls to release more than one year's worth of tax returns. The Romney campaign response? "Just take our word for it." So why is Mitt Romney hiding the rest of his tax returns? Vanity Fair and the Associated Press have reported that Mitt Romney has put huge sums of money into investments in offshore tax havens like the Cayman Islands and Bermuda. Is he avoiding paying U.S. taxes by having money in those tax havens? Was he trying to hedge against the dollar by having a Swiss bank account? We asked some ordinary Americans what they think of Mitt Romney's financial arrangements.

His mother got him up before dawn to do school work she knew what it meant for his future. With hard work and student aid his life was transformed. Today higher education means even more for the middle class. Giving young people the chance to compete, like he did. So he doubled funding for college grants, capped federal student loan payments, passed the largest college tax credit ever.
