One Last Fundraiser

doorhanger front We are having one last major fundraiser to gather the money needed for some first-class Get Out The Vote doorhangers.

We need some additional funds to purchase these and get them to our Neighborhood Organizers to use for blockwalking. We will also be putting them out in heavily Democratic precincts.

Your help could turn the tide for Democrats in Fort Bend County, and across Texas!

We decided to have a different kind of fundraiser - no speeches or grandstanding, just good food and live music. We will also have some outstanding door prizes - including a framed rally sign certified as being used on the convention floor in Denver. What a legacy to hand down to your grandchildren! With attendance limited to 100 people, your odds of winning a doorprize is good.

We will also have one-of-a-kind auction items for you to bid on.
Please click Read more to get specific information and pictures of the auction items.

Big BAD John

Have you seen John Cornyn Dressing-Up as a Cowboy?

Let's look at the other ways he's pretending:

  • He voted himself a pay raise, but voted seven times against raising the minimum wage.
  • Cornyn is ranked as the 81st (out of 100) most effective Senator.
  • Cornyn voted against troops' body armor and to cut veterans' benefits.

Polls Show Rick Noriega is Gaining Strength- Cornyn Increasingly Vulnerable

Today I was delighted to hear from the Rick Noriega campaign that "Yet another poll shows Rick Noriega just 4 points behind John Cornyn in the race for U.S. Senate." According to Rasmussen Reports, Noriega was closing in with 43% to Cornyn's 47%.(1) Today, the Research 2000 poll shows Noriega with 44% while Cornyn is at 48%. Rasmussen notes, "Any incumbent who polls below 50% is considered potentially vulnerable. That is especially true when a little known challenger is so competitive in an early general election match-up."

Noriega Juggernaut Continues to Roll Up Endorsements

Rick Noriega, coming off of what I heard was a Fabulous Fifties Birthday party – no there were no poodle skirts there, the man just passed by his half century lifetime milestone – the juggernaut that has become the Rick Noriega campaign continued to garner even more endorsements this week. Getting the hearty endorsement of his colleague, State Rep Mark Strama (D - Austin) at his birthday party, Rick then set his sights on the Austin Area Democratic confab at the AFL-CIO Hall in downtown Austin where he was endorsed by five area groups: The South Austin Democrats, Capital Area Progressive Democrats, Texas Environmental Democrats of Austin, Capital Area Asian American Democrats, and Southwest Austin Democrats.

Answer the Call

Officially throwing his hat into the ring, today State Representative Rick Noriega formally announced his candidacy and filed papers to run for the U.S. Senate seat currently occupied by John Cornyn.
