Brown 'Bows Out' of Run for Mayor of Missouri City

March 1, 2012

Due to complications surrounding redistricting and the lateness of this year's primary season, I've decided that now is not the time to run for Mayor of Missouri City. I can't, with good conscious, place the Democratic Party in the position of handling this primary and delegate selection process without its Chairman.  We've built a great deal of momentum in Fort Bend over the last two years, and I would hate for it not to continue in this all-important election.  It would  be my privilege to remain as your Chairman for two more years.

Steve Brown suspends role as Chairman of the Fort Bend County Democratic Party

February 26, 2012 - A Special Message from Chairman Steve Brown: Steve Brown

It was with mixed emotions that I announced at yesterday’s Democratic Party meeting my intention to suspend my role as Chairman of the Fort Bend County Democratic Party to focus on my campaign for mayor of Missouri City this Spring. As a Democratic Party, we have accomplished much. I fully expect that momentum to continue forward over the next couple of weeks.

Cynthia Ginyard, our Party Administrator, will serve as your primary point of contact should you need any assistance related to the Democratic Party.

"It is long past the time for state leaders to confront board members who make a mockery of public education in Texas. Who is Cynthia Dunbar? She is a disgrace to public education and an embarrassment to Texas."

From a scathing editorial in the Austin American-Statesman (Friday, November 07, 2008), which condemns Texas State Board of Education member Cynthia Dunbar, R-Richmond, for charging that President-elect Barack Obama sympathizes with terrorists who want to destroy America.
