Fort Bend Democrats Club Meeting

By Juanita - Posted on 07 September 2009

Our meeting is Saturday, September 19th, from 10:30 until noon at the Sugar Land Branch Library, 550 Eldridge, Sugar Land, TX 77478, 281-277-8934

We are honored to have Navid Zanjani, who was recently hired as Regional Field Director for Organizing for America. Organizing for America is President Barack Obama's grassroots advocacy arm that is a special project of the Democratic National Committee (DNC). He will be working on building neighborhood leaders and community organizers to get involved in their communities. He will talk to us about holding organizational meetings and training sessions to help give you the tools that you need to get involved.

This is the beginning of a permanent presence of the Obama campaign in Fort Bend.  You will not want to miss this meeting!

Following the meeting, we will have lunch together and those who have the time can volunteer to blockwalk with Navid for Obama's health care plan.  We will be blockwalking that afternoon in the Riverpark subdivision.  Please call us (832-683-3340) if you will miss the meeting but want to blockwalk.  We will arrange a meeting place for you.

We will also allow anyone considering running for public office in 2010 to introduce themselves and say a few words.

One of the main reasons America should re-elect President Obama is that he is still committed to cooperation. He appointed Republican secretaries of defense, the army and transportation. He appointed a vice president who ran against him in 2008, and trusted him to oversee the successful end of the war in Iraq and the implementation of the recovery act. And Joe Biden did a great job with both.
