Early voting for the May 29th Democratic Primary Election is underway! You have the opportunity to select the slate of Fort Bend Democratic nominees who will join President Barack Obama on the November 2012 ballot. It is extremely important that you make informed choices in this election, and that your voice is heard! Below are a few resources to help you participate in this year's Primary Election:

Confirm that you are registered to vote. You can verify your registration on the Secretary of State's website.
Find an early voting location in Fort Bend County. Early voting for the Primary Election runs through Friday, May 25th.
Request to have a ballot mailed to you. Your application for a mail ballot must be received no later than Tuesday, May 22nd.
Spread the word that Kesha Rogers is NOT a Democrat. Support KP George for Congressional District 22.

Remember, you can use the same documents that you've used in the past to vote. No photo ID is required! The photo voter id legislation is not in effect for this election. All you need is one of the following:

Your voter registration card;
A driver’s license or personal identification card issued to you by Texas or another state (even if the license or card has expired);
A form of identification that contains your photograph and establishes your identity;
A birth certificate or other document confirming birth that is admissible in a court of law and establishes your identity;
Your United States citizenship papers;
Your United States passport;
Official mail addressed to you by a governmental entity; or
A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows your name and address.

Beating Kesha Rogers

What if I told you that a candidate in the Democratic Primary would like to have President Barack Obama impeached? What if I told you that she’s a thirty-something, photogenic and articulate African American woman? Finally, what if I told you that two years ago she actually won the Democratic nomination for Congressional District 22, and went on to enter the general election by viciously attacking our President? If you are not already aware of this person, then let me introduce you to Kesha Rogers.

Rogers is a member of a political cult led by Lyndon LaRouche. LaRouche’s main goal is to elect Members of Congress who will advocate for the colonization of the moon, the impeachment of President Obama, and the restoration of an obscure 1933 banking standard.

Over the years, his cult has joined forces with a number of unseemly and racially divisive organizations, like the Ku Klux Klan.

In fact, LaRouche himself has been known to spew anti-sematic and racist views throughout the years. In newsletters he wrote in 1973 and 1974, he characterizes Black women as “sadistic,” and young Black men as “zombie killers out of control.” LaRouche’s racism isn’t just limited to African Americans. He refers to Asians as “subhuman” and Hispanics as “miserable.” However, he saves a great deal of his venom to vilify President Barack Obama. In 2009 he compared Pres. Obama to a trained monkey by stating, “And we have a dictatorship in the United States…under a President who doesn't have much conscience, because he doesn't have any brains. He's trained to talk like a trained monkey or something out of a mechanical zoo."

Rogers has adopted this type of hate speech in her current campaign. In a recent YouTube clip on her website, she suggests that Pres. Obama’s doctor should, “administer some pentothal of sodium” on him. Pentothal is an ingredient commonly used in lethal injections.

I hope and trust that the appropriate federal authorities are keeping a close watch on this cult, as any insinuations about the assassination of our President should be handled with the utmost urgency and seriousness, especially by those who not only wish him harm but hold other dangerous ideas. As Democrats, we cannot afford for anyone representing LaRouche’s cult to be a nominee on the Democratic ballot. A Rogers’ victory on May 29 is not only a distraction for those of us working hard to re-elect President Obama, but it also hurts our local, qualified candidates who need a surge in straight-ticket voting during the general election. Everyone, from judicial candidates to state representatives, should be concerned about sharing the Democratic slate with Rogers.

Voters in Congressional District 22 have a choice. KP George is running against Rogers on a platform to work with Pres. Obama on improving the economy, keeping our shores safe and providing health care for all. KP is the only Democrat in this race, and he’s ready to serve.

So, why would Rogers choose to align with LaRouche? I can’t say. Perhaps you should ask her if you ever meet her.

But as Texas Democrats, we must develop protocols to ensure that “Democratic” imposters don’t find their way on our ballot. By doing so, we protect the integrity of the Democratic primary while also ensuring that our voters don’t become fooled by candidates that don’t represent their interests.

In the meantime, we can use this election to send a message to any future LaRouche candidate by convincingly defeating Kesha Rogers on May 29, 2012. Our President would appreciate it.

Do Republicans Hate Sex?

Today’s Grand Ob/Gyn Party is obsessed with sex — mainly ensuring that the rest of us have the apparently same miserable sex lives that they themselves endure. Just look at them. Do they look happy? Do they look like they are being romanced and courted? Do they look like they have happy, fulfilling, fabulous-can’t-wait-to-get-to-my-honey relationships? Nope.

They sure seem like a cranky, irritable, miserable lot to me. They ain’t getting any lovin’, and they damned sure spend a lot of time devising ways to prevent the rest of us from happy lives and in particular, happy sexually fulfilling lives...

NOW Targets Limbaugh With 'Enough Rush' Campaign

Rush Limbaugh has a new headache on his hands: the National Organization for Women is launching another campaign to get him off the air.

The advocacy group announced its renewed efforts in an initiative called "Enough Rush"... It is planning a protest on May 18, in addition to targeting local advertisers and radio stations.

“When he demanded to see video tape of her having sex, that crosses the line into fantasizing about pornography and violence," NOW president Terry O'Neill said.

Dora Olivo to Run for New State House Seat

ROSENBERG, TEXAS (April 5, 2012) Former State Representative Dora Olivo has announced her candidacy for the Texas House of Representatives, District 85. Olivo, a Democrat from Fort Bend County, previously served seven terms in the Texas Legislature. The newly-drawn District 85 includes central and southern Fort Bend County and all of Jackson and Wharton Counties.

"The residents of District 85 deserve experienced leadership and representation in Austin," said Olivo. We have to raise the expectation levels of our children, while providing them all the essential tools, in order for them to truly succeed," Olivo said.

Olivo believes economic development and jobs, especially in largely rural areas, are vital to a bright future for Texas. She will continue her fight to keep small business opportunities and incentives available for rural and farming communities.

Fort Bend Democratic Party Endorses KP George

RICHMOND, TX. The Fort Bend County Democratic Party’s County Executive Committee (CEC) unanimously adopted a motion to support KP George in the race for the Democratic Nomination for Congressional District 22.

“The Party’s decision to formally endorse KP was bold, but needed to help drive the distinction between these two candidates,” stated Steve Brown, Fort Bend County Democratic Party Chairman. “Where KP’s focus is on working with the Administration to advance our economic recovery and promote foreign security, his opponent is solely focused on colonizing the moon and demeaning our President,” he added. “We’ve taken great strides to recruit an impressive slate of qualified and diverse local leaders. Brown 'Bows Out' of Run for Mayor of Missouri City

Due to complications surrounding redistricting and the lateness of this year's primary season, I've decided that now is not the time to run for Mayor of Missouri City. I can't, with good conscious, place the Democratic Party in the position of handling this primary and delegate selection process without its Chairman. We've built a great deal of momentum in Fort Bend over the last two years, and I would hate for it not to continue in this all-important election. It would be my privilege to remain as your Chairman for two more years.

To that end, I would like to update you on today's order issued by the San Antonio court:

The filing period will reopen Friday, March 2, and close on Friday, March 9 at 6 p.m.

Ballot order draws will occur on March 12, 2012.
The primary will be held May 29, 2012
The primary runoff would be July 31, 2012.
State Convention will be held June 7 - June 9 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
The election for Precinct Chairs will be July 31, 2012 (the same day as the primary runoff).

Next meeting
On March 12 we will hold ballot drawings and name the location, time and temporary chairs for the April 21 Senatorial Conventions. Open Letter from Leaders of Faith Regarding Statements by Franklin Graham

As Christian denominational leaders, pastors, and, most importantly, followers of Jesus Christ; we are greatly troubled by recent attempts by some religious leaders to use faith as a political weapon. We were disturbed and disappointed by statements made by Rev. Franklin Graham during an interview on MSNBC that questioned whether President Obama is a Christian. Rev. Graham also seemed to imply that the President may be a Muslim, despite the fact that the President has repeatedly expressed his faith and belief in Jesus Christ. By his statements, Rev. Graham seems to be aligning himself with those who use faith as a weapon of political division. These kinds of comments could have enormous negative effects for America and are especially harmful to the Christian witness.

Many of us are working around the world now to advance the cause of peace and religious tolerance, and we believe that statements like Rev. Graham’s have potentially dangerous consequences domestically and internationally. The world is looking to America’s faith leaders to help build bridges of understanding and mutual respect, not to further erect barriers of doubt and mistrust. It is unsettling and counter-productive to American values and interests to engage in this kind of misleading rhetoric cloaked in religion that divides our nation and international neighbors over matters of religion and faith.

We can disagree about what it means to be a Christian engaged in politics, but Christians should not bear false witness. We are clear that the teachings of Jesus and the prophets call us in our imperfection to put the most vulnerable among us ahead of our self-interest. The gift of grace we received through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ should remind Christians to enter the arena of public service with a spirit of humility. As Christians we must respond to the forgiveness we received from Jesus by serving our neighbors and protecting the vulnerable and “the least” among us. This is how we as Christians strengthen our walk with Christ and use our faith to build unity.

We are also concerned that Rev. Graham’s comments can be used to encourage racism. We urge him to be mindful of the unprecedented verbal attacks on President Obama based on his race and be careful not to allow his own voice to be used to help drive such hateful words.

As committed Christian servants, we deeply believe that Jesus defined what it means to be a Christian when he gave his disciples a new commandment that they must “love one another.” As Christian witnesses and leaders, Jesus calls us to follow his ethic of love. We call on Rev. Graham and all Christian leaders to exemplify this essential teaching of Jesus and refrain from using Christianity as a weapon of political division.

Even though there are at least 3 months to go until the Democratic primary election, I have decided to withdraw from the Congressional District 22 race.
